Three students from the University of Professional Studies, (UPSA) have successfully participated in a 10-day Advanced Certificate course titled ‘Mini MBA’ in the United Kingdom (UK).
The course which came off from 17th to 26th January, 2014 was organized in collaboration with the Berkshire Training Services (BTS), a cutting-edge and one of the “TOP” Corporate Training Companies based in the UK. The course is a fully accredited and certified one that seeks to provide students with professional training that will provide them with excellent foundation in all the skills and behaviours required to make them outstanding Corporate Executives.
The students, Divine Elorm Sefenu, Joanne Yaawa Anka and Constance Nani were taken through modules such as Marketing and Market Research, Business Finance, Corporate Governance and Professional Development Skills. They also had the opportunity to tour interesting places such as the ‘Big Ben’, House of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, London Eye Ride, River Bus, Trafalgar Square and Leicester Square as well as Oxford.
At the end of the course, the students were presented with awards and prizes as well as Certificates. UPSA was also given an award (Plaque) for being the first University in Ghana to participate in the training programme.
The course provided the students with a lot of benefits, including the opportunity for them to meet, interact and learn from students from other universities. It also helped them to acquire skills and behaviours that will make them become better corporate executives. Above all, the course has provided the students with skills to devise Professional Development Plans for achieving their academic and professional objectives.
Welcoming the students, the Coordinator of the course at UPSA, Dr. Raymond K. Dziwornu, expressed his delight for a successful programme. He congratulated the students for successfully completing the course and advised them to bring the training they have had to bear on their respective jobs. He took the opportunity to encourage continuing students to take advantage of the opportunity to participate in the next course which is scheduled to take place during the long vacation from 15th – 26th June, 2014 in the UK to enhance their professional skills as well as CVs.
Dr. Dziwornu expressed his appreciation to the Vice Chancellor, Management and Staff of the University for their support and assistance towards a successful programme.
