The Vice President, Mr K.B. Amissah-Arthur, on Thursday arrived in Kigali, Rwanda for the Meles Zenawi Symposium on Development.

It is inspired by Ethiopia’s late Prime Minister Meles Zenawi’s commitment to the State’s singular and prominent role in building robust and accountable institutions as well as facilitating rapid sustainable development.

Conceived by the African Development Bank and the Meles Zenawi Foundation, the high level symposium is a platform for rigorous intellectual deliberations and in-depth analysis of issues related to development.

Speakers at the symposium, which comes off on Friday on the theme “The African Democratic Developmental State”, include President Paul Kagame of Rwanda, Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Hailermariam Desalegn and Vice President K.B. Amissah-Arthur.

Discussions will be informed by the opinions of key policy makers as well as scholars whose work relates to development.

The outcomes of the deliberations will be submitted to the African Union with the expectation that they will be fed into its Agenda 2063.
