WARNING: Cooking products contaminated with dangerous dye

THE UK Food Safety Agency (FSA) is warning people not to use cooking oils and curry pastes they say could cause cancer.

Jumbo Zomi Palm Oil, Tropical Sun Zomi Palm Oil and Bevelini Chilli Paste have been contaminated with two illegal dyes, Sudan I and Sudan IV.

These toxic chemicals have been identified by the FSA and are used for waxes, petrol, shoe and floor polishes.

They are considered to be a genotoxic carcinogen and are not permitted in food for any purpose in the UK.

The dyes are produced in places such as Ghana and Nigeria where there are no tight regulations.

FSA spokesman Robert Westhead said: If consumed over a long period these products could cause cancer.''
