GOODWILL MESSAGE TO PROFESSOR ATTA MIILLS AND THE NDC

At this special time of the year, especially on the eve of the NDC congress, we the membership of the Committee to elect Professor John Evans Atta Mills as the NDC presidential candidate in the 2008 elections in Ghana, wish to once again convey our unflinching support for our candidate and reemphasize that we remain resolute and unshakable in our belief and conviction that the interest of the NDC and for that matter, the good people of Ghana, will be better served under Prof. Mills

May this day and season bring our candidate our special gift of goodwill, cheers and success at the congress. May the good Lord also keep, preserve and guide our candidate in the struggle, first, to lead the NDC and most importantly, to lift high the flag of mother Ghana and restore it to its leadership role in Africa and among the comity of nations.

In these troubled times in our political history, we need a gentleman of peace, unity, reconciliation, wisdom, maturity, compassion, honesty, integrity, and dedication to lead us. In short, we need Prof. Mills because he possesses all these qualities.

Furthermore, at this critical moment in our history when we are in danger of losing our national pride and prestige as a result of ethnic divisiveness, pervasive organized criminalities, vengeance, drug trafficking, corruption, and venal-maladministration, we need a president who, by virtue of his professional and academic competency, and personal exemplary life record, will have the moral courage to instill disciple into the Ghanaian body politic, and restore dignity to the presidency.

It is against this backdrop that we firmly believe that Professor John Evans Atta Mills, is the one Ghanaians need at this point in time. Like a light in the distance, he personifies a beaming hope and purposefulness in the horizon. His treasured values of humility, gentleness, and desire for the well being of all Ghanaians, and his passion for a stable, peaceful, and a united Ghana will make all of us proud Ghanaians again!

To members of the great AKATAMANSO family who will gather at the University of Ghana campus this week to elect the flagbearer, we want to assure you of our admiration, respect and love. Be assured that something good is just around the corner. Never give up, never despair. Hope and help are on the way. We entreat you most respectfully to elect Professor John Evans Atta Mills as our presidential candidate because he has what it takes to make Ghana a better place to live. In short, elect Prof. Mills and the good life we all desire, shall be added unto you.

As you drive in and out of Accra, we entreat you to be careful with your driving and be respectful and tolerant of opposing views. We need everyone alive so that you can campaign and vote in 2008! We are all one big family and like all families, we are bound to have differences but let us resolve such differences peacefully. Let’s make this the most peaceful and democratic congress ever.

Thank you.

Long Live NDC, Long Live Democracy and God Bless Our Homeland Ghana.

By Ato Essel.
