Congratulatory message to Prof. Mills

Fri, 22 Dec 2006 Source: --

At the just concluded defining congress, the esteemed delegates of the National Democratic Congress decided once more to entrust their hopes and dreams on the shoulders of the presidential candidate they have the greatest confidence in – Professor John Evans Atta Mills. We of the North America Committee To Elect Prof. John Evans Atta Mills As The NDC Flagbearer For 2008 unreservedly applaud the decision of Congress. We thank congress for validating our view that Professor Mills is without any doubt, the person to restore sanity into the body politic, restore the confidence of people in their elected representatives, bring respect to government, unite a polarized country, and make corruption hugely unattractive.

To Professor Mills, we convey our appreciation for his courage to avail himself to Ghanaians to lead them to a better and more secure future beginning 2008. It is a task that can scare the faint-hearted, deter those without a vision, and confound those who do not believe in the capacity of the people to distinguish form from substance. Throughout the campaign period he refused to descend into the gutter, he refused to throw mud and rather concentrated on his vision for Ghana. At various rallies and meetings, he analyzed the ills of our economy, pointed out the sad decaying of our values, proposed the way forward and indicated the tough demands he would place on himself and those who would serve with him.

We congratulate Professor Mills for fighting a clean fight, and for reminding Ghanaians that no matter how long the night, the bright Ghana sun will surely rise. We appreciate the fact that beyond the campaign for political office, he served as a role model of decency to the millions of young men and women on whose behalf he has dedicated his energy and calm thoughts.

Professor Mills, please accept our highest congratulations and be confident that we, like the millions of voters, will welcome you to the Castle in 2008 to actualize your vision for Ghana.
