VIVIAN"S EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION PRAYS FOR A PEACEFUL ELECTIONS IN GHANA!!!

In spite of the rain that threatened the walk of Vivian's Educational Foundation towards Peaceful Elections in Ghana people were determined to participate and to enjoy the event, which started at 7: am at the Martin Park in East Hartford, Connecticut -USA.

The peaceful walk was attended by Ghanaians in the community to create awareness for a peaceful elections in Ghana come December 7, 2008.

Mr. John Koomson, an advisor to the Vivian Educational Foundation, led the group in a prayer before the walk.

Mrs Vivian Ofori, founder of Vivian's Educational Foundation appealed to Ghanaians that" Ghana needs peace and stability to move forward and it is the duty bound of every Ghanaian to promote and preach Unity and Peace , before, during and after the 2008 General Elections". Mrs Ofori urged Ghanaians, especially Women to educate their children to avoid associating themselves with drug addicts and bad friends in order not to cause confusion, conflicts and violence.

Mr Eugene Ofori, co-founder of Vivian's Educational Foundation, tasked the Electoral Commission (EC) and the National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE) to educate the public on the rules andregulations governing the elections. "It is very sad and unfortunate to hear Politicians and Political Parties attacking each other, a situation that can cause mayhem, he noted . Mr. Ofori urged the Political Parties to be decorum in their statements".

Among the people who participated in the event were the children of the Ofori's, Eugenia and Jeremy Ofori who have been part of their parent¢s efforts every step of the way. Mr. Collins Bekoe and Kofi Sarkodie represented Asempa Radio (WNEZ 12.30AM). Asempa Radio donated calling cards to the first ten people who arrived at the park for them to use to call their folks in Ghana to educate them to engage in peaceful elections.

Mr. John Kissi, President of the Ghana Business Alliance (GBA), expressed support for Vivian's Educational Foundation and acknowledged the creative idea by Mrs. Ofori to sponsor such event.

Mr. Derrick Mintah, President of Duapa Association and his members came to support the event as well. Mrs. Mabel Winful was there to help organize the event. Nana Adjei Yeboah, Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP-USA) Connecticut Chapter; Mr Larry Bempong, Vice Chairman of GBA; Ms Vida Koffi' AKA Ama Vida, Managing Director of African Fabrics in East Hartford, CT. and Mr Charles Mensah, Businessman, CT. were also there to Grace the occasion. They all congratulated Mrs. Ofori for her creative and courageous effort to promote peaceful elections in Ghana. Mrs. Susan Kyerematen, wife of the secretary of NPP-USA, Connecticut Chapter, Mr. Eugene Kyerematen was also among the crowd. Sam Boachie, of Bloomfield who is a strong supporter of the main opposition party in Ghana, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was among the walkers. Mr. Kwame Edusei covered the event with his video camera while Ben Dzuke captured images.

Deputy Mayor of East Hartford, Mr Richard Kehoe represented Mayor Melody Curry to grace the occasion. Mr. Kehoe congratulated Mrs. Ofori for her work and also recognized the contribution made by the Ghanaian community to the Town of East Hartford.

Fontonfrom Radio station of Tennessee in the USA called to interview Mrs. Ofori and Mr. Bekoe and broadcast the event live to the people in Ghana, USA and some European Countries.

Vivian's Educational Foundation was founded by Mr. and Mrs. Ofori. Mr. Ofori is also the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP-USA), Connecticut Chapter. Mr. And Mrs. Ofori will be leaving to Ghana next week to start the building of a library for the school in which they adopted and sponsoring children to go to school in a small village of Apampatia in the Eastern Region of Ghana. They will also organize a similar nationwide event to walk for peaceful elections in Ghana.
