Mr. Ishmael
Kaku Amihere, a Ghanaian student currently pursuing his Master’s Degree at the
Russian State University of Oil and Gas in Moscow, has donated items worth $
1,200 to the chief and people of his hometown, Basake, a suburb of Ayinase in
the Ellembelle District of the Western Region.
The items
include teaching materials such as exercise books, pens, pencils and crayons,
six (6) hand dryers to saloons in the communities, seven (7) microphones to
churches, ten (10) footballs and a set of jersey to Basake United F/C, a third
division club in the community.
Beneficiaries
were the Rev. Armah Primary and Junior High School and the Ewieboe-Basake
Junior High school, all in the Basake township.
Churches in
the Basake community such as the Church of Christ, Church of Pentecost,
Methodist, Roman Catholic, SDA, Action Chapel, and Twelve Apostles Church all
received microphones each to enhance their evangelism activities.
Speaking at
a gathering of chiefs and people of the community and graced by the Member of
Parliament (MP) for Ellembelle, Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, Mr. Kaku Amihere said
he was very proud that God had brought him far in life through the activities
of the community adding that it was about time he did something to show his
appreciation to his town.
Mr. Amihere
who is currently on vacation commended the MP for Ellembelle for his efforts in
ensuring that he (Amihere) had the opportunity to pursue two International
courses; one from The Energy & Resources Institute (Teri) in New Delhi,
India in Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency and the current one in Russia.
He thanked
the chiefs and people of the community for their prayers and support over the
past years and challenged his colleagues to also take their studies serious to
enable them achieve higher heights in life.
On his part,
Mr. Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah advised the youth especially students under his
jurisdiction to take their studies serious and emulate the exemplary move by
the Russian Master’s student.
Mr. Buah,
who is also a deputy Minister of Energy in charge of Petroleum, implored parents
to support their wards’ education to enable them attain better positions in the
society and refrain from spending on activities that would not yield any better
outcome to their lives and the society at large.
These, he
mentioned as buying of expensive clothes for funerals, weddings, and other
social occasions.
He therefore
pledged his commitment to support brilliant students either through school,
vocational training or trade.
He
encouraged the youth of the area to be mindful of their future and remain
focused as well as commit themselves to every activity or project that they
intend to undertake.
Mr. Armah
Buah charged the students to eschew immoral activities that stampede their
chances of achieving their future goals.
The
Tuffohene of the Basake Community, Nana Awotwi, who was the Chairman for the
ceremony lauded the student and the MP for their gesture and prayed for God’s
favour and guidance on them.
He called on
all students to study hard to enable them also contribute their quota to the
development of the community.
Mr. Ishmael
Amihere was born to the late Mr. Anthony Kaku Amihere and Madam Winifred Akesse
on Wednesday 28th April, 1983 at Basake. He started his childhood
education at Rev. Armah Primary, Basake.
He later
went to Holy Child Preparatory School at Ayinase where he was made school
prefect between1999-2000 and completed his Junior High education in 2000.
He later
continued his Senior Secondary education at the Aggrey Memorial Senior High
School at Cape Coast in the Central Region. In the year 2004, he got admission
to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) where he
obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree (Geophysics) in 2008.
He also
served as the General Secretary of the KNUST branch of the Nzema Students
