KATANGA Announces Massive Digital Library - Alumni Meet in Washington DC “Kat Goes DC” to Finalize Project
KATANGA Alumni – North America has announced a massive digital library project to benefit students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. According to a statement by Alumni Representative, Dr. Victor Wutor, close to four thousand books have so far been collected, with a goal to reach ten thousand books by the end of this year. In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the University Hall (KATANGA), alumni in the USA and Canada have resolved that challenges with access to relevant and current text books facing current KATANGA students should forever be a thing of the past.
The entire alumni family is scheduled to meet at the Pohick Bay Regional Park in the Washington Metropolitan Area for an event dubbed ‘Kat Goes DC’ (Kat@50) on July 6, 2013, to finalize plans for the launch of the KATANGA e-Book Project. Dr. Wutor added that this will also be an opportunity for FELLOWS, as students and alumni of KATANGA are affectionately called, to network and catch up on old times. For this purpose, several activities have been lined up, including: procé, beach volleyball, kayaking, chess, drought, scrabble, bouncy castles, pedal boats, jon boats, and sail boats, and of course, plenty of local food and drinks. FELLOWS of KATANGA, FELLOWAAS of KATANGA (spouses and significant others), FELLOWLETS (sons and daughters of FELLOWS) and FRIENDS of KATANGA (incidentally, all four groups go with the acronym FoK) are all invited to this event. As is usually the norm, intense debates are planned on various issues of national importance, which will feature some prominent policy makers and think tanks.
