KATANGA Meets in Washington DC (KatGoesDC 2015)

Sun, 10 May 2015 Source: Katanga Alumni Association

KATANGA Alumni – North America has called a meeting in Washington DC to respond to a request of the alumni to be more involved in shaping the current culture in the hall. The current Hall Master of KATANGA, Dr. Edward Ebo Kwansah-Ansah, has expressed grave concerns about the current residency requirements of KNUST and how that is negatively impacting the hall. Currently, few students enjoy residency for no more than a year during their entire course of study, which is definitely not enough time to learn about and sustain the rich culture of KATANGA. Dr. Kwansah-Ansah has therefore made a passionate appeal to all alumni to visit and interact with the current students regularly. A functioning alumni office is being set-up in the hall, to be followed by an interactive database of all alumni with current contact details.

To support the new alumni outreach initiated by the Hall Master, the KATANGA family in North America is converging at the Bohrer Park (Gaithersburg) in the Washington Metropolitan Area for an event dubbed “Kat Goes DC – 2015” on May 23, 2015. Mr. Sam Sackey, North America president, announced that this will be a time for serious “P-Lodge style” deliberations, interspersed with some great fun. FELLOWS, as students and alumni of KATANGA are affectionately called, will not miss the opportunity to network and have some good old fun in the spirit of brotherliness. There will be procé, beach volleyball, swimming, chess, drought, scrabble, bouncy castles, and of course, plenty of local food and drinks. FELLOWS of KATANGA, FELLOWAAS of KATANGA (spouses and significant others), FELLOWLETS (sons and daughters of FELLOWS) and FRIENDS of KATANGA (incidentally, all four groups go with the acronym FoK) are all invited to this event.
