Dziffa.com, an online market that provides global consumers of quality Afrocentric goods direct access to products from the continent, was launched last Thursday in New York City.

The launch was well attended by leaders of the permanent mission of Ghana, community leaders in the African Diaspora, New York Council members whose districts are predominantly Ghanaian, business owners and entrepreneurs looking for opportunities in Ghana.

The founder, Dziffa Akua Ametam, addressed Dziffa.com's quest which is to change Ghana's trade deficit by encouraging Ghanaians abroad and home to buy quality made-in-Ghana products so that local businesses can grow, innovate, and adequately feed the global demand for Afrocentric products.

She pointed out that many countries have already begun taking advantage of the demand for products from Africa, encouraging manufacturers to make the best products to give them the global exposure they need to expand their consumer base.

The launch ended with a closing speech by Ghana's Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Mr. Philbert Johnson, who encouraged more Africans in the Diaspora to engage in the continent's development and begin seeing themselves as active participants of the economic growth they wish for the continent.

He stressed that Africans have the potential of meeting the demand for African Products, and an online market creates the visibility for these products to reach a larger audience looking to purchase from manufacturers on the continent.
