The Network for Patriotism & Progress, the Montreal-Canada Chapter of the ruling New Patriotic Party has celebrated Three Years of the NPP administration with a Dinner/Dance in Montreal, Canada. The Community Center at 451 Ogilvy in Montreal’s Parc Extension was festooned with the NPP slogans, party colors and a large portrait of President John Agyekum Kufour for the occasion.
In a powerful anniversary key-note speech, local Chapter Chairman, Nana Asumadu Duah recounted the three years of steady progress and positive change that have taken place in Ghana under the NPP administration.
"Our government came to power with a promise of delivering a government committed to the full tenets of the rule of law as well as a deep devotion to positive change and development in freedom. I am very proud to say that our government has delivered on all fronts and in fact it has over-delivered in just three years in power".
"The past three years has seen real freedom in the land of our birth. We have restored all the freedoms that Rawlings and his NDC government destroyed in Ghana: freedom of speech, freedom of the press, the strict adherence to the rule of law and above all, the total end of the fear and culture of silence that had totally enveloped Ghanaians. Today, citizens can speak without looking over their shoulders", the Chairman proclaimed to loud sustained applause.
Nana Duah challenged the party members to work even harder towards the next elections to enable the party retain power. "We have so far made steady progress but more needs to be done. We need to recruit more members for the task ahead of winning a second term next December and beyond in 2008. We welcome ALL and sundry to join our ranks. This party belongs to ALL.
I charge each and every Ghanaian here to join our ranks or help the party to win the next elections in December 2004. For another victory of our party will help democracy to gain real roots and help in the country’s development"
Present at the celebration Dinner and Dance were a large contingent from the Cameroonian Community in Montreal and the Nigerian Canadian Association of Montreal, whose leaders, Ngala Johnson and Johnson Ariwei of Cameroon and Nigeria respectively delivered fraternal greetings.
