The EACH Foundation was launched at Davidson College in North Carolina in the United States of America on Saturday, October 23, 2004. The milestone of EACH, which started as a service project at Davidson College in 2003, was celebrated alongside the celebration of the Davidson International Festival.
The Educational Accessibility for Children in Hardship (EACH) is a non-profit organization in North Carolina that strives to make quality education available to talented but underprivileged children in Africa. Through scholarships, mentoring programs and library development, EACH seeks to contribute to the growth and advancement of education in Africa. In his launching speech, Mr. Emmanuel Amos-Abanyie, the President of the foundation stated that the organization?s purpose, reason for being and the vision it shares about EACH African child directs the work of his organization.
Amos-Abanyie stated that through relationships that convey high expectations, underprivileged children learn to believe in themselves and in their future, developing resiliency, self-esteem, autonomy and optimism. Furthermore, the belief others have, the affirmation others speak and show to these children profoundly shapes who they are, who they become and how they in turn relate to others.
EACH has initiated three projects in Ghana ? The EACH Scholarship for Excellence Program, the Second Family Program and the Library Project. However, the organization?s long-term vision is to expand to other African countries. The Davidson International Association sponsored a fundraiser to support EACH's activities.
