The Inspector General of Police (IGP), David Asante-Apeatu, and high ranking officials of the Ghana Police Service are expected in Yendi today, Thursday, 17 January 2019 for the climax of the final funeral rites of late Ya Na Yakubu Andani II.
The Andani royal family on Friday, 11 January 2019 began the funeral amid tight security due to skirmishes that resulted in one person’s death and the torching of some houses.
The funeral, which is part of the roadmap initiated by the Otumfuo-led Committee of Eminent Chiefs, aims to restore peace to the Dagbon Traditional Area following a prolonged chieftaincy crisis between the Abudu and Andani royal gates.
A new Ya Na is to be installed right after the completion of the funeral rites.
