Anlo traditional council urged to install substantive Awoamefia

Ho, April 21, GNA - Mr Kwasi Owusu-Yeboa, Volta Regional Minister on Tuesday made a passionate appeal to stakeholders in the Anlo Traditional Council to unite and initiate moves towards the installation of a substantive Awoamefia.

He urged them to commence a peace building mechanism towards bringing all parties on board to facilitate the process.

Mr Owusu-Yeboa was addressing a delegation of Chiefs and Elders of the Anlo Traditional Council who paid him a visit in Ho to express their appreciation of government's gesture in the completion of the Sea Defence Project and the construction of additional resettlement housing project at Keta.

He requested that they co-existed peacefully to stimulate socio-economic growth and consider making the corporate interest of the Anlo State, supplant any other individual or personal concerns. Mr Owusu-Yeboa urged the traditional authorities to assist to erase the negative perception about the people in the region "looking one-way politically", since this stance sends wrong signals.

He said America was powerful today because it was able to harness its varied potentials irrespective of political affiliation towards national cohesion, growth and development.

The Regional Minister urged the Chiefs to re-position themselves towards usurping the investment potentials of the area towards wealth creation.

He urged the Chiefs to design a proposal on how the government could empower them financially and not to compromise their constitutional mandate.

Togbi Sri III, Regent and Acting President of the Anlo Traditional Council pledged their collective resolve towards peace building and subsequent installation of a new Awoamefia.
