Newcastle United winger Christian Atsu is gunning for starting place when they host champions Manchester City in the Premiership on Saturday.
The Ghanaian international hasn’t started for Magpies since their 5-0 thumping at the hands of Leicester City in September.
The 27 year old has been largely reduced to a bit-part player since the arrivals of Miguel Almiron and Allan Saint-Maximin.
However with both struggling to live up to the hype, Atsu could be be handed yet another opportunity to remind the St.James faithful just how important he is to the team.
“I’m working hard,” said Atsu, as reported by The Shields Gazette.
“I want to start games, because I think I’m in very good shape now.
“I’m patiently waiting for my chance, because we have, this December, a lot of games coming.
“I’m preparing for that.”
He has made 11 appearances in all competitions this campaign, starting four matches.
