Koforidua, Oct. 15, GNA - The flag-bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor John Evans Atta Mills, on Tuesday presented a 20-inch television set and a wall clock to the Children's Ward of the Koforidua Regional Hospital.
Prof Mills, who was on an eleven-day tour of the Eastern Region, made the presentation after a courtesy call on the management and staff of the hospital.
The Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr Joseph Taylor, who received the set thanked Prof Mills for the donation and expressed the hope that he would find time whenever he comes to the region to visit the hospital to familiarise with services there.
Prof Mills was later taken round to inspect renovation works that had been undertaken at the hospital with a Spanish government grant, initiated by the NDC administration.
Addressing a section of the hospital's staff, Prof. Mills explained that the NDC was not wholly against the National Health Insurance Act, except some aspects of the law, which it found was not in the interest of the people of Ghana.
He gave the assurance that the party would continue to offer suggestions and constructive criticisms, which would help shape the law and the implementation of the scheme to the interest of the entire nation.
Prof. Mills commended the management and staff for their invaluable service to the nation.
