Hiplife Stars Nominated In Channel O African Music Video Awards

The second edition of Channel O?s African Music Video Awards (AMVA) which comes off at the Civic Theatre in Johannesburg on 31 March 2005 would be recorded live and later shown on Channel O on 2 April at 19:00 CAT.

Some of Ghana?s finest hiplife artistes are part of the 77 nominated artistes in the 21 categories. Leading were Grandpapa of hiplife, Reggie Rockstone, Tinny and VIP with two nominations each.

Reggie was nominated for ?Best African West? video and ?Best Collaboration? he did with K. K. Fosu on his ?Ah? song, Tinny was nominated for ?Best West Africa? video and ?Best hip-hop Video with ?Dzormo?.

VIP was nominated for ?Best Duo or Group? and ?Best Choreography? with their Ahomka song.

Kwaadee whose new album is not doing pretty well on the music scene was also nominated for ?Best African West? video.

Other African artistes that were nominated were 2 Face, Tony Tetuilla, Thandiswa Mazwai, Renee Lamira, Nkalakatha, Mandoza, Arno Carstens, Mxo, GidiGidi MajiMaji, Arthur and Kabelo.

Hugh Masekela will not be forgotten as he is set to receive a special award for his contribution in the African music industry through his music.

The selections of the videos were done by videos that were released between October 2003 to December 2004 and have received enough airplay on Channel O.
