Public Relations Officer of Asante Kotoko, Kennedy Boakye-Ansah has revealed that former player Abdul Fatawu Safiu did not want a return to Ghana so the Porcupines had no option than to allow him to join Trelleborgs for the four months loan.
According to Boakye-Ansah, the first offer they had from Helsinborgs IF was insulting so they asked the player to return to the club but the player was not ready to return to Ghana.
Speaking on the Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM, he said “The player didn’t want to return to Ghana so we had no choice but to allow him go for the loan which we are getting $35000”
“The previous offer from Helsinborg IF was insulting so we asked him to return but the player didn’t want to and wasn’t ready to return,”said Kennedy Boakye Ansah.
He added that the Champions League would have increased the player’s value in the transfer market had he listened to them and return to the club.
“Playing in the CAF Champions League would have increased his value but his actions and inactions showed he wasn’t interested,so we had to cash in and the money should be in by now”
