The Pekan Enclave East Legon residents Association, has called on the Executive Secretary of the Lands Commission to address land issues in East Legon.

At a News Conference in Accra on Saturday, Mr Budu Koomson, the Chairman of the Association said: "We are with this News conference petitioning the Executive Secretary of Lands Commission to ensure sanity in Mpehuasem village for peace to prevail, and for residents to have their peace of minds."

He alleged that, with some insecurity activities happening in the community by some land guards, residents were living in fear adding that "This issue at hand is very technical and are yet to petition the Executive Secretary of Lands Commission, the Inspector General of Police and the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources to come to our aid," he said.

Mr Koomson, who is also a retired Captain in the Military said, residents had tried over the years to live within the confines of law and order, but were still suffering in the hands of alleged land guards.

Some of the residents expressed worry at how they were troubled by alleged land guards and called on government to intervene for their safety.

The Mepehuasem Village which has been in existence for over 200 years, shares boundary with the La-Nkwantanag Madina on the North, La Baweleshie on the South, Ogbojo on the North East and Bejin on the East and University Lands on the West.

It is listed under the Ga South in the Gold Coast Chiefs List of 1941 as part of La Division headed by Nii Obodaifio and not Numo Nmashie family from Teshie, according to Mr Koomson.
