The continuous demand for the Ghana Football Association to open up on how much the association receives yearly from FIFA seem to have come to an end as the president of world football's organisation, FIFA, has lifted the lid on how much each football federation receives from them.
Ghanaians have always questioned the FA on the money they pocket annually from the Switzerland-based organisation and how efficiently they use the money but all the calls have fallen on death ears with the GFA constantly clothing themselves with the reason that they are accountable to their members only. However the president of FIFA has revealed how much each association receives from them.
In a short press conference held at the headquarters of the GFA, Gianni Infantino revealed that all football associations in the world with affiliations to FIFA receives not less than 1.25 million dollars from them. This figure according to the Swiss-born Football administrator is aimed at developing the "world's number one sport.
"There is a specific directive from FIFA on how the various federations are to use the money and the amount given is linked to the fulfilment of certain good governance and compliance criteria which are listed in the regulations. Each association gets 1.25 million USD from FIFA annually. These monies are aimed at ensuring the smooth running of the associations and development of football. In addition to this each confederation receives 10million from FIFA yearly.
The FIFA boss was on a one-day tour to Ghana which has saw him meet the president, Nana Akufo-Addo and the executive committee of the Ghana Football Association.
