CEO of Shippers’ Authority eulogises Dr. Kofi Mbiah

The Ghana Shippers’ Authority has officially bid farewell to the Authority’s longest serving Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Emmanuel Kofi Mbiah who retired from the Authority in June this year after 35 year of selfless and dedicated service.

An end-of-service send-off party was organized in honour of the man who is credited with the absolute transformation of the Ghana Shippers’ Authority.

Chief Executive Officer of the Authority, Ms. Benonita Bismarck praised Dr. Mbiah who served as Chief Executive Officer for 19 years, as an asset who has served the Authority, the shipping community and the country selflessly.

She said Dr. Mbiah put the name of Ghana on the international stage especially of his feat at the International Maritime Organization where he chaired the Legal Committee for many years.

“I can only say that Dr. Mbiah put in his all and did his best for Ghana Shippers’ Authority and Ghana for that matter. Our gathering here in our numbers to celebrate him is ample testimony to his effective work as Chief Executive Officer. Dr. Mbiah’s name had become synonymous with Shipping in this country and we say this in his honor,” she acknowledged.

Chairperson of the Governing Board of the Authority, Stella Wilson Agyapong conveyed the gratitude of the board to Dr. Kofi Mbiah for his enormous contribution to the transformation of the Authority.

According to her, the Authority is positioning itself to play a major role in government’s one-district-one-factory programme and will require Dr. Mbiah’s expertise to enable it carry through that agenda.

His strategic management mission has seen transformation in the area of promoting and protecting the interest of shippers in line with the changing trends in the global environment of shipping.

Over the period, Kofi Mbiah has served in collaboration with the board and members have crafted strategic plans as core instruments in harnessing the organizational capabilities competences and resources in delivering quality services to shippers across the country,” she noted.

Dr. Mbiah called on the staff and management of the Authority to lend the new Chief Executive Officer their unalloyed support to enable her succeed.

He charged the staff of the authority to exhibit honesty and avoid practices that won’t auger well for the Authority.
