There was chaos at Kwabenya Thursday night as residents clashed with police officers over the lynching of some suspected armed robbers who attacked a boutique in the area.
The charged residents had demanded that the police release the suspects who had been arrested to them instead of being taken to the police station.
According to an eye witnesses, the police had to fire shots to scare off the residents before they could whisk the armed robbers away. That action got the residents incensed and began pelting the police with stones.
The incident comes on the back of Sunday dawn’s attack on the Kwabenya Police Station by some armed robbers during which a police officer was gunned down while seven suspects on remand were freed by the attackers.
