Professor H. A. Pufaa to chair national planning committee for 2018 Ghana National Games

Professor Henry Augustine Pufaa would chair a 17-member planning committee inaugurated by the National Sports Authority (NSA) to plan the upcoming national sports festival now “Ghana National Games”.

The Ghana National Games, which would take place at Cape Coast from 29th July to 9th August, 2018 with 16 sporting disciplines would have Mr Kweku Abedu Wilson as the vice chairman and Papa Asante as the secretary.

According to Professor Pufaa, turn out for this year’s edition would be bigger than last year, which was only for the regions adding that the games have been opened to accommodate the Security Services Sports Association (SESSA), Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) and all the Technical Universities across the country.

Mr Bawah Majeed the acting Director-General of the NSA noted that equipments have been purchased for Greater Accra and same is going to be done for the various regions to ensure that the game takes off and end successfully without any hitches.

“The regions have submitted their budgets and we would give them the necessary support just like the various regional coordination councils would also give the teams the necessary support needed for the regions to have strong teams to represent the various regions in the national event in cape coast”.

According to Mr Majeed, this is to unearth the talents hidden in the universities, security services and the regions, to harness them for a better Ghana in the future and also to promote unity and foster good relationship among all Ghanaians.

The national planning committee, which has been tasked to make sure that the games are well structured and planned successfully has the following as members; Dr. Emmanuel Owusu-Ansah, Mr. Chris Essilfie, Mr. Princeworth K.D. Anane-Asare, Mr. Mawuko Afadzinu, Mr .Nathaniel Laryea, Mrs. Helena Williams, Mr. Edward Annang Akporh, Ms. Frederica Mensah-Davies, Ms. Grace Asiam, Mr. Richard Abankwah Yeboah, Mr. Daniel Okyere Nyarnor, Ms. Philippina Frimpong, Mr. Samuel Sarpong and Mr.Omaru Salisu.
