The Minority in Parliament has described plans by the Akufo-Addo-led government to re-inaugurate work on phase II of the Kumasi Airport as a “needless waste of time and scarce national resources.”
According to the opposition, the sod cutting ceremony had already been executed by former president John Dramani Mahama in December 2016, hence President Akufo-Addo should go ahead to commence the project rather than repeat the process.
In a statement signed by MP for Adaklu and Ranking Member on Road and Transport Committee of Parliament, Kwame Governs Agbodza, the contractor hired for the project under the NDC is the same one who has been retained, the more reason the sod cutting is unnecessary.
The release further stressed the move is intentional on the part of the NPP government to take undue credit for the work started by the opposition.
“The conduct smacks of desperation and is symptomatic of a government that has nothing to show for the billions of Ghana Cedis it has borrowed since January, 2017”.
