Newcastle United are set to rival Fulham in the race to sign Jordan Ayew from Swansea City this summer.
Ayew was Swansea’s top goalscorer last season with seven goals in the league- 11 in all competitions, as well as one of their top performers.
The Cottagers who have already seen an initial £8million bid for the Ghanaian rejected will now have to battle it out with the Magpies who are closing in on the £13m rated forward.
While Fulham want the Ghana international to forefront their bid to remain in the Premier League come May 2019, Newcastle need more firepower up front and Ayew's versatility makes him the best signing.
Swansea paid Aston Villa around £5m plus Neil Taylor for the Ghanaian in January 2017 and expect to lose him following relegation.
