Daniel Batidam was corruption advisor to ex-president John Dramani Mahama
Mr Daniel Batidam, Former Corruption Advisor to ex-president John Dramani Mahama has relinquished his position as a member of the African Union Advisory Board on Corruption.
In a letter dated June 8, 2018, and sighted by MyNewsGH.com, he cites among other things bad governance, including the abuse of entrusted power (or corruption), lack of probity, accountability, transparency and integrity at the Secretariat.
““After witnessing several instances and degrees of bad governance, including the abuse of entrusted power (or corruption), lack of probity, accountability, transparency and integrity at the Secretariat of the AUABC and some Departments of the AU Commission itself for over a period of three years now, while efforts at seeking redress have yielded no results, I have decided on grounds of principle that enough is enough,” the letter addressed to the Chairman stated.
Mr. Daniel Batidam, was first elected to the African Union Advisory Board on Corruption (AUABC) to serve a two-year term on the Board in 2015 and had his mandate renewed for another two-year term at the end of his first term which will end in 2017.
Mr. Batidam was first elected by the Executive Council at the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, and replaces Dr. Tony Aidoo who served on the 11-member Board from 2013 to 2015.
According to the AUABC, members of the Board are elected on their own merit after they have been proposed by member states.
