Thieves are to blame for the darkness on the streets of Tema and the Accra-Tema Motorway, Chief Superintendent Joseph Owusu Bempah (Odeneho 1), Tema Regional Commander for the Motor Traffic and Transport Division (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service, has said.
According to him, some miscreants have developed the penchant of stealing the streetlight bulbs and other wires connected to the streetlights, thereby plunging areas along the motorway into darkness.
He told Kwabena Prah Jnr. (The Don) on Accra100.5FM’s Ghana Yensom on Tuesday, 27 November 2018 that the MTTD is on the heels of the miscreants in order to deal with the situation.
“Thieves have been stealing the streetlights. That is why we sometimes have the problem of these lights going off on the streets,” he said.
“We are, however, doing our best to the deal with these people.”
