The court proceedings will continue if the parties fail to settle the issue amicably
The Tema High Court B has given the parties in a contempt suit linked to the implementation of the Cargo Tracking Note (CTN) system, the opportunity to settle their case out of court.
The two parties, the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and its Commissioner-General, Mr Kofi Nti on the one hand, and a freight forwarder, Mr John Adu Jack on the other hand, have up to 18 February 2019 to report back to the court on whether or not they have been able to deal with the issues that resulted in the suit.
The court proceedings will continue if the parties fail to settle the issue amicably.
Mr Adu Jack dragged the GRA boss to court for contempt after the tax collecting body started implementing the CTN in spite of an interlocutory injunction.
At the first hearing, Mr Nti told the court that the GRA had not been served with an interlocutory injunction as of the time the implementation started.
However, the bailiff told the court on Monday, 28 January 2019 that he personally served the GRA boss with the interlocutory injunction in the presence of his secretary.
The court presided over by Justice Ankama, asked both parties to deal with the issues and present their report.
