Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has thrown more light on the Right To Information Law.

President Akufo-Addo on Tuesday gave assent to the Right to Information (RTI) Act that was passed by Parliament in March 2019.

The RTI Law seeks to give effect, to Article 21 (1) (f) of the 1992 constitution of the Republic of Ghana which states that “All persons shall have the right to information subject to such qualifications and laws as are necessary for a democratic society.”

It, also, seek to operationalize the constitutional right to information by the public, and some private institutions, subject to exemptions that are necessary and consistent to safeguarding the public interest in a democratic state.

Speaking in an interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo', Kojo Oppong Nkrumah said that any delay in obtaining information under this new law can be reported at the RTI Commission.

He further outlined the processes involved in accessing information under this law.
