Influential Ghanaian midfielder, Joseph Amoah will be sorely missed by Vitória Guimarães after a long injury lay off.
Amoah sustained an injury while playing for his side in their third round qualifier of the Uefa Europa league game against Ventspils.
The initial prognosis was that the midfielder will be out for three months but after being operated on Saturday in Vila Nova de Gaia, it was revealed that, Amoah will be missing for the entirety of the season as he will be out for six months, so is expected to return by 2020 the earliest.
Coach Ivo Vieira will be ruing the loss of a key member of the team a player he promoted from the team’s B side.
The Ghanaian midfielder who has been in Guimarães since 2014 made his senior debut with Rui Vitória and was integral in his first official game of the season, scoring the winning goal against Jeunesse Esch in Luxembourg.
Joseph Amoah who is yet to be capped by Ghana faces one of the most toughest times yet in his budding career with a six month long injury lay off.
He has played 26 games for Vitoria Guimaraes’ senior side scoring two goals with all those goals coming this season.
