The Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council is to establish ten (10) model traditional schools in the area.
The Basic School Complex envisaged to become schools of academic excellence would be called “Amoatia Ofori Panin Basic Schools”. The disability-friendly schools will have all facilities including ICT infrastructure, Library, Teachers’ bungalow among others.
Okyenhene Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin who revealed this during his ongoing “Royal Tour” of 16 traditional towns in the traditional area said funding has been secured for the project.
The Overlord of Akyem Abuakwa who has been a strong advocate of decentralizing management of education, health and other Public services to the locals said the schools will be managed and supervised by the traditional authority to ensure the delivery of quality education to the pupils.
“By God’s grace, we have secured funds to establish 10 schools in Okyeman. The schools will be called Amoatia Ofori Panin Basic Schools. We (Traditional Council) shall control the Teachers, we shall monitor the course. Even before we select the beneficiary communities, we have been flooded with huge request by my sub-chiefs so to ensure fairness we will ballot it like lotto”.
Meanwhile, the Okyenhene has commended the chief of Akyem Akrofufu, Osabarima Adigye Gyamfi for constructing a dormitory for the Akrofu Vocational and Technical School to ameliorate their accommodation challenges.
