A former Executive Secretary to the immediate past Inspector General of Police (IGP), Superintendent Peter Lanchene Tuubo, has described Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as a “democratic dictator”, claiming the President is averse to dissenting views.
Speaking on Accra-based Kingdom FM 107.7, flagship program Anopa Nkomo with Kwame Tutu, he observed the posture of the President on public issues is very partisan.
According to him, he doesn’t understand why the Akufo-Addo led government has politicized all the state institutions.
A despot is a ruler or other person who holds absolute power, typically one who exercises it in a cruel or oppressive way.
‘’It is the people around them who fan their egos and created despots out of them…Let us not allow Nana Akufo Addo to become a despot, it will not help anybody.’’
Peter Lanchene Tuubo making reference to attacks on state institutions said that it is the beginning of despotism – a form of government in which a single entity rule with absolute power.
He further questioned why the rules of engagement are not being sorted but individuals are engaging in lawlessness.
He argues that if they do not belong to political parties how come they are allowed to vote which is part of their civic responsibility.
