Management of A1 Bakery over the weekend distributed loaves of bread with fan ice to loads of people on the streets of Accra as both an Xmas giveaway and a means of expressing appreciation to its numerous customers.

The enterprise has seen tremendous growth since its inception in Accra in 2017 and has in the past rewarded customers, staff and vendors for their immense contribution.

Last year, management acknowledged the efforts of vendors by giving out two Kia Picanto cars and hundreds of printex cloth to mark their first anniversary.

Chief Marketing Officer and Partner of the A1 Bread company Edward Nana Poku Osei (Hammer) who led the exercise said the gesture was to recognize the customers for their patronage and support for a locally owned business.

A1 Bread is owned by 30-year-old Godfred Obeng Boateng. The product of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and his company shot to fame after actor, John Dumelo shared a photograph of him asking why he was on the streets selling bread.

Dumelo’s post attracted a backlash from a section of the public who concluded he had scorned the businessman.

A1 Bread has branches in Accra and Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi where it initially started operations. It has employed about a 1000 direct and indirect young people since its inception.

Due to the feat the organization has achieved within the few years of its operations, former president Jerry John Rawlings, last year, commended Mr Obeng Boateng for his creativity in establishing a bread business that has become a household name.

Mr. Rawlings said he was also impressed that A1 Bread’s business model had already attracted potential investors, saying the fact that others want to invest in the business spoke volumes of his personal qualities.

These remarks were made when Hammer and Obeng Boateng paid a courtesy call on the former president of the republic of Ghana.
