On January 14, 2020, GhanaWeb made a publication to the effect that Stephen Asamoah Boateng, Director-General of State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA), had been accused of complicity in the illegal seizure of two plots of land located along the Prampram seashore in the Ningo-Pramparm District of the Greater Accra Region, belonging to one Daniel Yeboah.

The publication further captured suggestions that the former information minister and one Patricia Quaye have constituted themselves into a nuisance, terrorizing the original owner and workers working on the property on a daily basis.

Lawyers of Mr. Asamoah Boateng however say their client, “is the bonafide owner of the land in dispute and his ownership of same is evidenced by a deed of conveyance executed between Numo Teye Oke Tekle, Head of Admili-we of Larkpeh Lower Prampram and Stephen Asamoah Boateng dated 2008 and which title was subsequently ratified by Numo Narh Tetteh-Wayoe, Head and lawful representative of the Tetteh Wayoe Family and Adimile We of Prampram, together with the principal members of the family whose consent and concurrence are necessary or required for valid alienation or deposition of any land or property of the said family.”

They add that their “client’s interest has been registered with the Land Title Registry (with Certificate Number: TD. 16891) as required by statute without hitch or hindrance.”

GhanaWeb retracts the publication and apologises to Mr. Asamoah Boateng for any inconvenience the story might have caused.
