Spanish giants Atlético Madrid are reported to be considering paying the buy-out clause of Mohammed Salisu.
The budding guardsman has caught the attention of several top European sides with his impressive performances for Real Valladolid in the ongoing campaign.
Salisu has been at the heart of a defence that has conceded just 27 goals from 24 matches, the sixth-best record in the Spanish LaLiga.
Last week, reports went rife that Real Madrid are seriously looking to add the 20-year-old defender to their recent collection of bright talents.
However, the Whites could be given a stern challenge in pursuit of the Ghanaian as rivals Atlético Madrid have joined the queue.
The Rojiblancos are said to be aiming to pay his €12 million release clause before the transfer window opens in summer.
Salisu is believed to be keen on the idea of moving tothe Estadio Wanda Metropolitano, as he thinks he can improve under coach Diego Simeone.
He has amassed 24 league appearances for Valladolid, contributing 1 goal and 1 assist.
