The Director of Amnesty International Ghana, Robert Akoto Amoafo, has urged all Ghanaians to desist from violating the rights of the LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer) community in the country.

According to him, no human being, including LGBTQ people, deserves to be physically abused.

“I think it’s wrong to abuse anybody including LGBTQ people. Nobody has the right to physically violate the right of anybody,” he said.

He also stated that if anybody, including the LGBTQ are guilty of a crime, they should be sent to the appropriate authorities for the issue to be dealt with.

“If somebody has a cause to believe that somebody has committed a crime, the person needs to go and report to the police for the police to go and take action. If anybody believes that somebody has done something that is against the law, like the Imam and co are saying, they should go and report,” he concluded.
