Long queues were seen at various stations at Lapaz Monday morning after the president lifted the three-week lockdown imposed on some parts of the country which included Accra.

For many, there was no time to waste as staying home the last three weeks hasn't been very favourable to their pockets.

They set out early in the morning like they would any normal working day being aware of how difficult it was to get trotro to their destinations at that time of day.

They, however, had to wait longer than usual as the directive on social distancing is still in force, hence, trotros have reduced the number of passengers they accommodate per trip.

GhanaWeb’s toured various bus stations at Lapaz and more queues than buses were seen at these stations.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in his seventh address to the nation of the Coronavirus pandemic ended the restriction of movements in Accra, Tema, Kasoa and Kumasi.

This decision, according to him is to give the government the opportunity to try to contain the spread of the virus, scale-up effectively the tracing of persons who had come into contact with infected persons, test them for the virus and quarantine those who tested positive and isolate them for treatment.

The president, however, urged citizens to observe the various safety precautions when moving around to protect themselves from the virus.
