Dr. Edward Nasigre Mahama, flagbearer of the Peoples National Convention (PNC), has appealed to Ghanaians to consider competence over age in the upcoming general election.
Speaking on Atinka’s 'Obrempong Ahyiase' show hosted by Maame Korea on Sunday, the 71-year-old politician said age is just a number in people’s mind and that it doesn’t decrease one’s intelligence or limit a person’s competence. He therefore said age should not restrict someone from holding a higher office like the presidency.
Dr. Mahama stated that even though he is getting older, he still has good health and works hard as a gyaenacologist. He said he conducts numerous surgeries on patients for hours, saying his good intentions for the people of Ghana is limitless so Ghanaians should consider his competence and not age when voting .
He cited President Buhari of Nigeria, President Lassane Wattara of Cote d’ Voire, Late president Mandela as leaders who, in spite of their old age, managed or are managing their nations successfully. “Even Moses[ in the bible] was eighty years when he took Israelites from captivity,” the respected doctor added .He is convinced that he will be that next president of the country.
Dr. Mahama promised to end dumsor in his first 100 days as president and asked Ghanaians to vote for him.
He maintains that he is a man of peace and also incorruptible, selfless, honest with good vision for this nation.
