The Member of Parliament for Agotime-Ziope Constituency in the Volta Region, Charles Agbeve on Monday January 28 donated twenty bicycles to students at the Adzonkor Junior High School who hitherto, walk long distances to school.
The donation, he said was a support from two NGOs - Adanu based in Ghana and Wheel to Africa based in Canada after his appeal to them considering the stress the students go through daily to access quality education which remains their fundamental right.
"My love and empathy for education urges me to do more for my constituents in that regard. This bicycles will aid their movement to school on time and curb the lateness to class" he said.
Parents and teachers were full of praise for the MP for making education one of his topmost priorities in the constituency.
Prior to the bicycle donation, the MP in December last year donated corn mill machine to Agotime Senior High School (Agosec) when the plight of the kitchen staff got to his attention.
He's made arrangements for students to be taught during holiday periods (extra classes) in an attempt to improve on the standard of education and the WASSCE and BECE results in his District.
Charles Agbeve took the mantle from Juliana Azumah Mensah after she served for three terms as MP and Tourism minister.
Charles Agbeve before becoming MP was the former manager of the National Health Insurance Scheme in the Agotime District and Ho Municipality respectively.
