NPP stalwart, Alhaji Ali Suraj
As the New Patriotic Party (NPP) prepares for its national executive elections, a prominent party stalwart, Alhaji Ali Suraj, has declared his intention to contest one of the key roles within the party’s national leadership.
In a press release issued on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, Alhaji Ali Suraj announced his bid for the position of National Nasara Organizer.
He stated that his decision followed extensive consultations with key party members who urged him to vie for the role.
“After a well-organized and successful presidential primary which produced our flagbearer, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, and following deep reflection and encouragement from well-meaning members, supporters, and stakeholders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
" I respectfully wish to formally announce to members of the NPP and the general public my intention to contest for the position of National Nasara Organizer (NNO) when nominations open.
“This decision was not taken lightly. It comes after careful consideration and in response to widespread calls for renewed leadership rooted in the founding values and democratic ideals of our party and the Nasara fraternity,” parts of the statement read.
Alhaji Suraj highlighted his extensive experience within the party, having served in various capacities, including as a former Nasara Coordinator in the USA and on multiple party committees.
“As a former Nasara Coordinator in the USA and having served on various committees of the party, I am emboldened by the encouragement from the grassroots and fellow colleagues across the country,” he added.
He also outlined his vision for the role, which includes uniting all Zongo communities nationwide and revitalizing the Nasara wing to make it more appealing and inclusive for all Zongo residents.

DECLARATION OF INTENT
After a well-organized and successful presidential primary that produced our flagbearer, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, and following extensive reflection and encouragement from well-meaning members, supporters, and stakeholders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), I respectfully wish to formally announce to members of the NPP and the general public my intention to contest for the position of National Nasara Organizer (NNO) when nominations open.
This decision was not taken lightly. It comes after careful consideration and in response to widespread calls for renewed leadership rooted in the founding values and democratic ideals of our party and the Nasara fraternity.
As a former Nasara Coordinator in the USA and having served on various committees of the party, I am emboldened by the encouragement I have received from the grassroots and fellow colleagues across the country.
My vision is to re-energize and consolidate our gains in the Zongo communities for victory in 2028.
As an aspiring National Nasara Organizer, here are some highlights of my policies:
1.Establishment of a robust National Nasara administration.
2.A Nasara fraternity that serves as a year-round bridge between Muslims and the Zongo communities.
3.Re-energizing and resourcing a vibrant Nasara wing.
4.A Nasara fraternity that focuses on trust, opportunity, and discipline.
5.Establishment of a welfare-driven system to enhance mobilization in Zongo and settler communities.
I once again solicit your support for the position of National Nasara Organizer, as I am convinced that it requires an able and experienced hand to strengthen the Nasara wing and secure victory for the New Patriotic Party in the 2028 elections.
