Ashie Moore vows to secure more seats for NDC

As the 2024 general elections approach, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is mopping up its strategies to reclaim power from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

This will enable its leader, John Dramani Mahama, to implement what the party describes as “Game Changer” policies aimed at rapid economic recovery.

In an interview with the Accra Times Newspaper, the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the NDC, Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore discussed his ambitious plans for the region.

During his chairmanship campaign, he promised to rebrand, market, and invest heavily in the growth of the youth of NDC in the region.

Now, in office, he asserts that the NDC is more vibrant, visible, and attractive to voters.

Currently, the NDC holds 20 parliamentary seats in Greater Accra, but under Nii Ashie Moore’s leadership, the party aims to increase this number to 25 in the next Parliament.

He acknowledged that winning the additional five seats would not be easy, but expressed his confidence that with the hard work and strategies being employed, the party will succeed.

Regarding the vote margin, Nii Ashie Moore noted that while the NDC won both presidential and parliamentary votes in the region in the last election, the margin for the presidential race was just over 70,000 and that his goal for the 2024 elections is to increase the margin significantly, targeting a difference of between 200,000 and 500,000 votes.

He emphasized the importance of Greater Accra’s support for the NDC and Mahama and urged party members to intensify their door-to-door campaign efforts to explain the party’s policies, particularly the 24-hour economy initiative and the benefits of the proposed Women Development Bank.

Nii Ashie Moore is determined to leave a lasting legacy by delivering 25 parliamentary seats for the NDC and has committed both resources and logistics to ensure a smooth and effective campaign.

He confidently predicted a "tsunami" victory in Greater Accra in favor of the NDC in the 2024 elections, driven by opinion polls and the appeal of Mahama’s policies.

To further spread the NDC’s message, the Greater Accra Regional secretariat has printed two million copies of a booklet explaining the 24-hour economy policy, which outlines a vision for Accra to become a dynamic urban environment, where businesses, services, and entertainment flourish around the clock.

This policy, Nii Ashie Moore noted, has the potential to boost tourism, enhance safety, create jobs, and cater to a diverse population, including shift workers and students.

He reiterated his commitment to ensuring that the NDC makes significant gains in Greater Accra in the 2024 elections and to secure the majority in Parliament.
