Former Director of Communications at the Presidency, during the erstwhile Mills Administration, Koku Anyidoho has described late President Prof. JEA Mills as one of the most intelligent men he’s ever come across whose brilliance could be compared to that of great philosophers like Socrates, Aristotle and Plato.

According to him, the late Prof. Mills who was a legal scholar was credited for introducing several policies and initiatives while he served as Vice President under President J.J Rawlings including Value Added Tax(VAT), Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund).

He noted that late President Mills was the one who introduced the subject of the Law of Taxation taught in the Ghana Law School and the first lecturer in the Law of Taxation in 1972.

Koku Anyidoho who’s the Founder of the Atta Mills Foundation made the comment in an interview with sit-in host Akwasi Nsiah on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa FM today 24th July which marks the seventh anniversary of the passing of the late former President.

Mr. Anyidoho furthered that late President Mills was a genius whose story is solid, adding that the Atta Mills Institute will tell that story.

“Prof. Mills was a good man with a good heart and a genius. He was very brilliant, you can compare late President Mills to the likes of Aristotle, Plato, Socrates, and co. He was really a genius and me Koku Anyidoho will weep no more, let us protect and propagate the legacy of John Evans Atta Mills. I’m saying that since he died we’ve never seen the sun on the 24th of July, the seventh year of his passing away as we’re seeing today because God is perfecting his legacy.”

The late Prof. JEA Mills was Ghana’s third President under the Fourth Republic. He died on 24th July 2012 at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra three days after his 68th birthday.

Though the cause of death was not immediately released, he had been suffering from throat cancer and had recently been to the US for medical reasons. Announcing his death, his office noted that he died hours after being taken ill, but a presidential aide said that he had complained of pains the day prior to his death.

However, Mills’ brother, Dr. Cadman Mills later disclosed during the graveside service that he had died from complications of a massive hemorrhagic stroke resulting from a brain aneurysm.
