The Executive Director of the Centre for Public Opinion and Awareness (CenPOA), Michael Donyina Mensah, has advised President-elect John Dramani Mahama not to disappoint Ghanaians following the massive endorsement he received in the just-ended general elections.

He stated that the number of votes the NDC received and its majority of seats in parliament show the Ghanaian people’s trust in him; hence, he must not disappoint.

He indicated that “Mahama is going to become the most powerful president in the fourth republic, and whatever he chooses to do with the power he will wield will determine the progress of the country or how far Ghana can go.”

Speaking on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, the policy analyst stated that Ghanaians expect President-elect John Dramani Mahama to deliver on his promises, most especially his pledge to fight corruption, scrap ex-gratia, run a lean government, and ensure that his appointees don’t engage in acts that will undermine his administration.

Michael Donyina Mensah charged the NDC MPs in parliament to be responsible with their numbers and not allow them to become a rubber stamp caucus.

He argued that “the number of MPs we will have in the ninth parliament and the presidential powers will have two extreme possibilities: it will be extremely disastrous if they refuse to use it responsibly, or it will lead to progress and growth of the country.”
