Agona Swedru, Jan. 28, GNA - Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom, presidential candidate of the Convention People Party (CPP), has stated that the party had been revitalized to make it more attractive and viable to its supporters and floating voters.

He said the CPP of today was entirely different from what it was in 2000 and 2004, adding that, frantic efforts were being made to make it friendly for the youth to accept.

Dr Nduom was speaking when he paid courtesy calls on the chiefs and elders of the Agona Nyakrom Traditional Area and the Swedruhene, Nana Ogidigram Aseidu Kobina Botwe II, as part of his tour of the Central Region.

"The CPP is poised to wrestle power from the Ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) because Ghanaians have tasted both the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and NPP rule and will opt for CPP in the December general election," he said.

Dr Nduom noted that industries and companies established under the first President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, which created jobs and wealth for Ghanaians had collapsed and gave the assurance that the new CPP would revive them. He stressed that the only problem facing the youth today was unemployment and told the chiefs and the people of Agona Nyakrom and Swedru that the issue would be resolved to reduce the economic hardship of the people.

The presidential candidate promised that the party would conduct a clean campaign devoid of insults and character assassination to ensure peaceful elections. Nana Botwe said CPP was not a new political party in the country and urged the leaders to adopt new methods to revive the fortunes of the party. He urged the presidential candidate to promote unity and cooperation among the members to improve its structures at the grassroots.

Nana Kwesi Akufo, Omankrado of Nyakrom Traditional Area, said the CPP was the only political party that could create jobs for the people, especially the youth because it had done it before. Dr Nduom also visited Swedru Central Market and addressed a mini rally at the Swedru Main Lorry Park. The tour also took Dr Nduom and his entourage to Awutu Ofankor, Kasoa Market and Mankessim in the Mfantseman District where Mr K T Dadzie was introduced as the party's parliamentary candidate for the Mfantseman West constituency.
