DFP Flag bearer outlines vision

Accra, July 17, GNA - Mr. Emmanuel Ansah Antwi, Flag bearer of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) on Thursday outlined the party's blue-print for the governance of the country for accelerated growth. "A DFP government will provide subsidies and create food preservation and marketing strategies for agricultural produce. The country will thereby be self-sufficient in food production at affordable prices," Mr. Antwi stated during the inauguration of eight member executive of the Accra Polytechnic branch of DFP Tertiary Education Students Forum (TESFORD). He said the rhetorics of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) show they are on a collision course as neither is prepared to countenance the success of the other in the electioneering campaign.

"Allegations of preparations for rigging as well as the formation of extra-legal forces abound. Voting for the DFP, therefore would avoid the potential conflict that the actions of these two parties could cause the nation and its attendant consequences. He said the Government of DFP would emphasizes on processing of what is produced locally and the promotion of industries to increase the income earning capacity of the country, such as tourism, electronics and salt production. Mr Antwi said private enterprise would truly be recognized as the engine of growth.. "Credit at reasonable interest would be provided and trade liberalization would be controlled so as not to undermine local industry and create unemployment."

The DFP Flag bearer said his government would lay emphasis on science and technology. An Open University would be set up to increase student intake at affordable cost.

Mr Bede Ziedeng DFP General Secretary stated that a party can progress only if it has good organizational structures because these structures can help to pass on the campaign message of the party across and ensure victory. Mr Ziedeng said that, though the party was still very young, they are strong because they have good organizational structures in place and gave the assurance that they were going to win the forthcoming election. He encouraged students to read, listen and watch every information about the party so as to educate the public about the policies of the party, adding "one thing we focus our attention on is about our policies and our initiatives." Mr. Ziedeng administered the oath of office to the eight TESFORD Executives headed by Mr Asamoah M. Selasi, President; Mr Abutiatey Bright, Vice President and Mr. Daniel Offie, Secretary.
