Flagbearer of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Dr. Edward Mahama, has said he is poised and ready for tonight's Institute of Economic Affairs’ (IEA) Evening Encounter with Presidential candidates.

Dr. Mahama, speaking to Class News, said the key in his presentation will be how he intends to permanently address Ghana’s power crisis in his first 100 days when elected President.

“I am hoping that all of Ghana will tune in to the various media that will be carrying this live encounter and they will give me their ear and hear what I have to say. This is an opportunity for me, as a candidate, and the audience, as the voters, to let us get on the same wavelength that the hopelessness of our nation as it is now, the high cost of living, electricity bills, water bills and transportation cost, Ghanaians do not deserve this kind of suffering that they are suffering and the PNC and I and the new force have solutions to these problems. I have been saying it and I will repeat it here that, for example, the power situation, I can solve it within the first 100 days as president of this country”.

The Evening Encounter is organised by the IEA for flagbearers of Political Parties with representation in Parliament.

According to the IEA, the Evening Encounters will provide the platform and a unique opportunity for flagbearers to present their vision and strategies on how they intend to govern the country.

Additionally, the Evening Encounters will offer the electorate the opportunity to interact directly with flagbearers and ask probing questions to ensure that the flagbearers understand their concerns and have the capacity to address them.

The flagbearer of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Mr. Ivor Greenstreet, will take his turn on 28 June while the main opposition leader Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will have his turn on 5 July.

The governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) announced it will not be taking part in the Evening Encounters.
