A National Executive Committee (NEC) Member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Wonder Victor Kutor (Esq), has urged the party not to become complacent as the current government continues to perform creditably.

According to him, the government’s performance has been evident not only in improvements in the economy and the general conditions of goods and services but also in the fact that, for the first time under the 4th Republic, there has not been a single scandal associated with the government within its first nine months.

Speaking at the End-of-Year and Welcome Party held in the United Kingdom in honour of Ghana’s new High Commissioner to the UK, Zita Sabah Benson and organised by the NDC UK/Ireland chapter of the party, Kutor encouraged the government to maintain its composure and strong performance as the party prepares its reorganisation next year in accordance with the party’s constitution.

He added that the government’s clean record and steady performance are also reflections of a similar successful reorganisation of the party following its loss of power in 2016.

Kutor, who is also a Board Member of the Volta River Authority (VRA), called for stronger collaboration and a more effective working relationship between the party and the government.

“As you may know, the NDC constitution requires the party to reorganise next year. I know many of you would want to take part. It is my advice that you go about the process with decency and dignity so that you do not disrupt government activities and programmes,” he cautioned.

He further urged the leadership of the NDC UK/Ireland Chapter to carefully manage the zoning of party activities to avoid undermining the main chapter.

“I have taken judicial notice of the Northern, Middle Belt and Southern zones. They are all good initiatives, but let me caution that these must not affect the unity of the chapter,” he stressed.

Wonder Kutor also highlighted some of the achievements and fulfilled campaign promises made by the government.

These included the payment of No Stress Fees, limiting ministerial appointments to a maximum of 60, and the current stability in the power sector, a development he attributed to the discipline and leadership of the Minister of Energy and Green Transition, John Jinapor.
