Dr. Ekow Spio-Gabrah, one of the seven candidates vying for the flag bearer position of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has stated that he is the most marketable among the contestants.

He said presenting himself as the flag bearer of the NDC to the electorate would be the easiest task of the party because of his clean track record, competence and vision for the country.

Dr. Spio-Garbrah, addressing delegates of the Party in the Subin Constituency on Monday, said his candidature was the best bet for the party in the 2020 general election.

He said the task ahead required a formidable candidate with proven track record whom opponents would struggle to discredit ahead of the election.

None of the candidates, according to him, would best represent the party and rake in more votes from floating voters than himself.

“I would stand tall among all the contestants”, he said, recounting how he had to sacrifice his jobs abroad just to serve the party in various capacities since 1993.

Dr. Spio-Gabrah blamed the party’s defeat in the 2016 election on the apathy of aggrieved members, most of whom complained of neglect or lack of access to the party hierarchy.

He promised to address this by spending one afternoon every week at the party’s headquarters to meet and interact with party members when given the nod as the country’s President.

He would also create welfare committees at the national, regional and constituency levels to cater for issues bothering on the welfare of its members.

He told the delegates to put the overall interest above parochial of individual candidates in order to wrest power from the ruling New Patriotic party (NPP).

They should therefore critically assess the capabilities of the candidates and what they offer as they go to the polls on February 23 to elect a flag bearer.
