I wasn’t a beggar at Agbogloshie before becoming an MP – Naana Eyiah

The Deputy Minister of Interior and Member of Parliament (MP) for Gomoa Central, Naana Eyiah Quansah, has asked the Ghanaian public to disregard media reports of her collapsing due to the outcome of the elections.

According to her, she is not easily defeated in any endeavour because God fully supports her.

Social media was awash with reports that the MP collapsed and was hospitalised after losing the parliamentary election. But speaking at a press conference, Naana Eyiah Quansah asked the public and the people of Gomoa Central to disregard the false information being circulated online.

"The God I serve, who helped me in my contest, is the same God I serve. Nobody can take me down because I serve a living God. So, if you heard that I had collapsed and been taken to the hospital, you are mistaken. If this is the case, fraudulent statements are circulating on social media.

"Nothing has occurred to me. I've not even had a headache. I am and will remain strong. I'm healthy. I would like to say unequivocally that I am not a pauper. Excuse me, but I was not a beggar standing at Agbogloshie begging for alms. I want to utilise this chance to remind my people that I am still strong. I didn't collapse. My executives are also healthy. By God's grace, I ate and slept soundly after losing my seat."

She assured the constituents that she would continue to work in their interests until her term of office is officially over. "I want to express gratitude to the people of Gomoa Central for giving me the opportunity to serve in Parliament for two terms. I want to assure them that I will continue to serve them and use my remaining term in office to do something positive. I want them to trust in my capacity to serve them because they have honoured me," she added.
