The Ashanti Regional Police Command has stormed the regional office of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to main peace and order as tension heightens between supporters of the party’s incumbent MP for Asawase Muntaka Mubarak and a prospective competitor in the party’s forthcoming parliamentary primaries Masawudu Mubarack.
The prospective aspirant and his supporters went to the office to file his nomination on Thursday only to meet the office under lock and key.
The prospective aspirant and his supporters suspect the regional executives are conspiring against him so as to protect the incumbent MP.
Masawudu Mubarack wondered why the office has been locked and deserted by the executives at a time that he was going to file his nomination.
He insists the executives cannot impose the incumbent MP on the party as the candidate for the 2020 election in Asawase.
Some of the executives claim Mr Masawudu Mubarack has been suspended by the party and, so, cannot run for office.
